Grand Knight John Franklin "Santa Jack" Adams
of Jasper, Georgia, age 69, died Friday, November 19, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital following a period of declining health. Born January 23, 1941, in Quincy, Massachusetts He was well known throughout the area as "Santa Jack" and he loved bringing joy to those around him. As a long time member of Our Lady of The Mountains Catholic Church Jack was very active in many activities. A few of his contributions to the church included singing in the choir, being the church photographer, and performing many maintenance tasks. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Entombment at theGeorgia National Cemetery with military honors.
 
Grand Knight William Lawrence “Bill” Bapst, Jr.
of Jasper, GA, age 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2013 at his home in Bent Tree. Bill was born on December 15, 1935 and was a loving husband and father, devout Catholic, Naval officer, community volunteer and proud Notre Dame Graduate (’57). While Bill dedicated his retirement years to serving others in many ways, a few highlights of his service are Bent Tree Board President (2 terms), Founding Member of the Bent Tree Foundation, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, member of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce, and Board Member for Georgia Mountains Hospice. Entombment at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with Military Honors by the United States Navy.
 
Grand Knight Charles Calder Cattanach, Jr.
passed away peacefully with his family at his home in Gig Canoe, Georgian, on Saturday, October 8, 2016. The Funeral Mass was be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jasper, GA. Charles’ stepson, Father Paul Williams, who is the pastor of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dalton, GA, presided over the Mass. Burial with military honors was be held at the Columbarium of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Blairsville, GA. Charles Cattanach was born on March 23, 1945, in Coral Gables, Florida. Prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He served as a medic in the Air Force from 1966 to 1969 attaining th e rank of Staff Sergeant. After his years in the Air Force, Charles worked in the medical field as a medical technician, a physician’s assistant and the owner of an ambulance service. In his retirement, Charles devoted himself full time to his passion--the Pro-Life cause. Under the auspices of the Women’s Enrichment Center in Blairsville, GA, in the early 2000s, he began a circuit riding ultrasound ministry, Life Images, which provided fourteen crisis pregnancy centers in North Georgia with free ultrasounds. He continued his ministry even after he was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in late April of 2016. Throughout the years Charles traveled to the centers, he performed almost 10,000 free ultrasounds saving untold numbers of babies from abortion. The WEC named him “Life Saver Extraordinaire.” A devout Roman Catholic throughout his life, Charles was active in the Knights of Columbus and the Legion of Mary, and he served as the Parish Council President both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Blairsville and at Our Lady of the Mountains in Jasper. He was also a member of the Finance Council and an usher at Our Lady of the Mountains.
 
Grand Knight Paul Eaton, Jr.
age 76 of Talking Rock, Georgia, passed away Tuesday October 18, 2016 at his residence. Paul was born on December 11, 1939, and was, for many years, quite active in the Third and Fouth Degrees of the Knights of Columbus at the Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jasper, Georgia.
 
Grand Knight Edward "Ed" John Eurek
a resident of Big Canoe, Georgia, passed away at age 81 on June 7, 2014. Ed was born in Loup City, Nebraska on May 25, 1933, the second oldest of five boys. He served his country honorably in the U. S. Air Force, which was followed by a long career with the United States Department of Agriculture in the Meat & Poultry Division, finally retiring in 1989 and settling in Big Canoe. Ed was a faithful member of the Catholic Church, an avid golfer and gardener. Entombment at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
 
Grand Knight Daniel Flanagan
of Ball Ground, Ga., age 86, formerly of Marietta, Ga., for 36 years, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at his residence. He was born September 23, 1928. Mr. Flanagan was a retired Marketing Representative of Eastman Kodak with 38 years of service. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II and Korean Conflict. He was a native of Rochester, N.Y., a member of Knights of Columbus, Marietta Elks, VFW Rainbow Post, American Legion Post 29 and Marine Corps League. Interment in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
 
Grand Knight Chris J. "Chris" Gartland
of Bent Tree, Ga., age 61, was born in September, 1955, and passed away on January 26, 2016. He is survived by his wife Kathy.
 
Grand Knight William "Bill" Luther Kinzer
of Woodstock, Ga., age 85, died December 9, 2014. Born on January 25, 1929, Bill attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa. and Temple University School of Law, Philadelphia. He served active duty in the US Air Force from 1951-1953 and continued to serve as weekend warrior and Standby Reserve until 1962. Beginning as a trial lawyer for the IRS, Washington DC 1956-1962, Bill moved to Atlanta 1962 to practice law for Powell, Goldstein, Frazer and Murphy specializing in tax and international law until his retirement. William L. Kinzer was a prominent presence in the Atlanta Legal community and was known for his sharp intellect, humor and integrity. Active in Our Lady of the Mountains Roman Catholic Church in Jasper, Bill was one of the founding members. With his son Matthew, he owned Kinzer's tree and shrub nursery in Jasper. He was active in his Air Force OCS class reunions keeping people connected with his correspondence. Lifelong hobbies were golfing and cooking. Bill is fondly remembered and known for his cooking by family, friends and in the community. Entombment at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
 
Grand Knight Joseph A. Murray, Sr.
of Jasper, Georgia, age 73, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 at his home. Born in Plainfield, NJ in 1936, he attended St. Johns School in Dunellen, NJ and St. Peters High School in New Brunswick, NJ before entering the U.S. Air Force in 1954. A brick mason by trade and a member of the Plainfield and Somerville Bricklayers Unions. Mr. Murray continued his education by taking classes at Rutgers the State University of New Jersey for Building Regulations. He moved to Jasper, Georgia in 1981. Mr. Murray was a communicant and founding member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jasper, GA. He served as a Eucharistic Minister bringing Holy Communion to the sick and those in nursing homes, as well as being an active member of the Mens Club. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at both the John Barry Council #2544 of Dunellen, NJ and Council of #14348 in Jasper, GA. Entombment at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
